CANVASSING MANAGEMENT TEAM (FIELD DIRECTORS)

The Field Director will lead our grassroots voter contact operation across Maryland's 3rd Congressional District. This is the heart of our campaign. You will build and manage the team that knocks on doors, makes phone calls, and has the face-to-face conversations that win elections.

This is a volunteer position for someone who believes that real political power comes from organized people, not big money. You will be responsible for building an operation capable of reaching tens of thousands of voters before the June 2026 primary.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive field plan with voter contact goals and timelines
• Recruit, train, and manage canvassing teams across the district
• Organize phone banks, door knocking events, and other voter outreach activities
• Use VAN and other voter file tools to target outreach and track progress
• Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure adequate staffing for all events
• Identify and develop volunteer leaders who can run their own turf
• Track field metrics and report progress to the Campaign Manager
• Build relationships with local organizations and community groups for coalition canvassing

Qualifications

• Experience with door-to-door canvassing or phone banking, either as a volunteer or organizer
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to motivate and energize volunteers
• Comfort speaking with strangers and training others to do the same
• Experience with VAN or other voter database tools is helpful but not required
• Access to reliable transportation to travel across the district
• Deep commitment to progressive values and grassroots organizing

Time Commitment

This is a significant volunteer commitment. We are looking for someone who can dedicate 15 to 20 hours per week to the campaign, with most activity happening on evenings and weekends when voters are home. The time commitment will increase as we approach the primary election.
