The Social Media Manager will build and manage our online presence across all social platforms. You will create engaging content, grow our following, and turn online engagement into real-world action and community building.
This is a volunteer position for someone passionate about digital organizing and social media strategy. You will have the opportunity to build the online voice of a grassroots congressional campaign while developing valuable skills in digital communications.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily posting across all social media platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok)
- Create engaging content including graphics, short videos, and written posts
- Develop and execute a social media strategy aligned with campaign goals
- Engage with followers, respond to comments, and build online community
- Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities for viral content
- Track analytics and report on social media performance
- Coordinate with the Communications Director on messaging and timing
- Amplify stories from the field and humanize the campaign online
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their algorithms
- Experience creating engaging social media content
- Basic graphic design and/or video editing skills
- Excellent writing skills with ability to adapt tone for different platforms
- Commitment to progressive values and ability to communicate them authentically
- Ability to work quickly and respond to current events in real-time
- Experience with social media analytics tools is a plus
Time Commitment
This is a significant volunteer commitment. We are looking for someone who can dedicate 10-15 hours per week to the campaign, with daily check-ins required. This position requires consistent availability to post and engage with followers. The work is fully remote.
